Tupac Musical ‘Holler If Ya Hear Me’ Crashes And Burns On Broadway

I know this is going to shock you, but it turns out that people do not want to see the most iconic gangster rapper of all time celebrated on Broadway. It sounds like a golden idea, I know, but it just isn’t meant to be.

After opening to horrible reviews and word of mouth so vile even Lindsay Lohan doesn’t want to be associated with it, the Tupac musical Holler If You Hear Me will close this Saturday, July 20, just one month after opening. The story was a non-biographical tale set in the industry Midwest, and apparently that appeals to absolutely no one because reports are that ticket sales were a complete disaster. Things were so bad, in fact, some insiders speculated that producers might pull the plug even before opening night given the alarmingly low audience turnout during previews.

Billboard notes that a ‘hit’ Broadway show can generate an average of $1 million dollars every week, with extremely popular titles like The Lion King bringing in upwards of $2 million at times. Holler If You Hear Me had made less than $200,000 every single week. It was and will forever be a flop of epic proportions.
