Real Friends Release “I Don’t Love You Anymore” Music Video

Chicago pop punk outfit Real Friends are continuing the promotional run towards their debut full-length this morning with the release of the official video for “I Don’t Love You Anymore.”

For those keeping score at home, this is the third single Real Friends have released during the summer of 2014. Add to this the group’s ongoing participation in the Vans Warped Tour and you have a recipe for complete alternative scene takeover that has not been this poised for breakthrough success since The Wonder Years delivered The Upsides a few years back. The new video features a story of love and heartbreak told through people wearing animal masks, but it’s not exactly as odd as you might think. As director Eric Teti explains:

“Lyrically, there’s a story that a lot of kids can relate to, even if their experiences aren’t identical. I wanted to find a way to display that, but not single anyone out. With the use of the masks, the experience of heartbreak isn’t typecast to only a handsome guy and a supermodel girl. It’s shown as something that happens to all of us. Much like Real Friends’ music, the masks add a little bit of fun to an unhappy situation.”
