This morning, genre-bending songstress, Janelle Monae, released a new music video for her song “Electric Lady,” a track that comes from her 2013 sophomore album of the same name.
The song is a catchy R&B tune that blends retro funk instrumentals with modern sounds in Monae’s typical fashion, and we like that. Unfortunately, the video opens with a 1-minute skit and blatant Samsung advertisement that, frankly, is a bit of a turn-off. A combination of terrible acting, glaring overexposure, and poorly-recorded audio is capped with a glamorous demonstration of the camera features on Samsung’s latest Smartwatch and a shot of one of their phones.
