UTG LIST: The Must-See Acts At Lollapalooza 2014

It’s time for Lollapalooza, the one festival that Chicago residents look forward to most all Summer long. Held in beautiful downtown Chicago, IL, this year’s festival will be taking over the area from August 1-3 at the legendary Grant Park. UTG will be on the festival grounds all weekend to get some amazing coverage of headliners and undercard acts alike, along with everything else Lolla has to offer.

For some pre-fest coverage, our Head of Photography, Corbin Alvae, will be listing off the acts that he believes you cannot miss at this year’s event. Throughout the weekend as well, he will be providing some live photo coverage via the image sharing app known as Instagram. You can find the details on that at the end of this post.

Let’s dive into the top acts you need to see all weekend, shall we?


DAY ONE, AUGUST 1

 

KODALINE (Lake Shore Stage @ 1:30pm – 2:30pm)

Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, these rockers a group not to miss, especially if you’re into the soothing, radio-friendly rock with powerful vocal melodies. Catch them on the Lake Shore Stage.


BRILLZ (Perry’s Stage @ 2:00pm – 3:00pm)

One of EDM’s rising stars, Brillz puts out a high energy performance filled with heart pounding bass and drops that will make you dance and move every second to his set.


CHVRCHES (Lake Shore Stage @ 5:30pm – 6:30pm)

A Scottish electronic trio that have been on an endless rise, CHVRCHES bring the relaxing electro feel to your ears. If you’re looking for a group to relax to or dance to, CHVRCHES will provide you will the soundtrack for both.


THE GLITCH MOB (Perry’s Stage @ 7:15pm – 8:15pm)

This group brings a very dark electronic tone in their music with massive production. Why you can’t miss them? It’s yet another group with a high-energy performance, killer stage sets, and musical creations to get lost within.


EMINEM (Samsung Galaxy Stage @ 8:30pm – 10pm)

Detroit’s hometown hero will be taking over Chicago on the Samsung Galaxy main stage, closing out the festival. You need to see him because…why not? He’s Eminem and you’d be nuts to miss an opportunity to witness the legend live.


DAY TWO, AUGUST 2

 

THE DISTRICTS (Lake Shore Stage @ 12:00pm – 12:45pm)

These Philadelphia natives are young and on the rise. They’ll kick off your second day at the festival with a fresh sound that’s sure to appeal to both the older and younger crowds.


GROUPLOVE (Bud Light Stage @ 4:45pm – 5:45pm)

This group is a ton of fun live and if you’re looking to catch something different throughout the day, this LA troupe will give you a boost of energy to carry on with massive crowd sing-alongs and a high-energy performance you won’t soon forget.


GRAMATIK (Perry’s Stage @ 4:30pm – 5:30pm)

Hailing from Slovenia, this artist brings a mellow tone to his tracks, then drops it right into your face when you least suspect it.


KREWELLA (Perry’s Stage @ 8:30pm – 9:45pm)

Chicago’s own hometown heroes, Krewella, are a jam-packed, energy-filled trio ready to absolutely take over the Perry’s Stage and give the performance of a lifetime to the Lollapalooza crowds.


OUTKAST (Samsung Galaxy Stage @ 8:15pm – 10pm)

The legends themselves will be dominating Chicago on the Samsung Galaxy main stage, closing out the festival for day two. I was in 4th grade when their hit single “Hey Ya” was released. I’m now 20 years young and getting the opportunity to see these legendary performers live is something not to miss.


DAY THREE, AUGUST 3

 

BETTY WHO (BMI Stage @ 5:40pm – 6:20pm)

Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Betty Who is an artist who has topped many lists lately and puts together the dancing tracks that will get you off your feet instantly.


CRIZZLY (Perry’s Stage @ 2:00pm – 2:45pm)

One of EDM’s other rising stars, Crizzly brings the party from beginning to end and is ready to give Chicago a performance that everyone will get down to.


THE 1975 (The Grove Stage @ 4:45pm – 5:30pm)

The beloved Manchester-based indie rock quartet will be taking over The Grove to bring Chicago an electric performance with hits like “Chocolate,” “Sex,” and “Girls” from their 2013 debut.


YOUNG THE GIANT (Lake Shore Stage @ 7:15pm – 8:15pm)

These Californians are another group that will give you chills and thrills during their set and keep your feet moving from start to finish.


SKRILLEX (Bud Light Stage @ 8:30pm – 10pm)

The one and only Mr. Sonny Moore will be taking over the Bud Light Stage to destroy and close out the festival, bringing you drops to make you dance until the lights fade to black.
