Foo Fighters Release ‘Sonic Highways’ Trailer

We are nearing the premiere of Sonic Highways, HBO’s new documentary series following Dave Grohl and the members of Foo Fighters as they travel the country visiting historical recording studios. We’ve known about the show since the beginning of summer, but it was not until this afternoon that we got our first true look at the new series.

The first official trailer for Sonic Highways found its way online this afternoon through the various social channels controlled by members of Foo Fighters. The three and a half minute clip features a variety of music icons, as well as beautiful footage of recording spaces across the country, and just the slightest taste of new music teasers from the Foo. It looks like everything we hoped to find and more, but I don’t want to spoil the surprises. Click below and experience the trailer for yourself:

As you hear Grohl explain in the clip, the motivation behind Sonic Highways started with the idea to record the upcoming Foo Fighters album by traveling the country and recording each song in a new city. This does not guarantee fans of the band will hear new/unreleased music during the duration of the show, but it seems pretty likely.

Sonic Highways premieres October 17 on HBO. Foo Fighters’ new album, which is also called Sonic Highways, arrives November 11.
