Producer STBRKT has shared another new track from his forthcoming album, Wonder Where We Land, called “Higher.”
The track also features an up-and-coming artist by the name of Raury, who spits verses so quick in this song that you have to go back and listen a couple of times to catch what he’s saying. This is the first time I’ve heard of him, but apparently he also just released his own mixtape, called Indigo Child, which is getting some eyes in its direction.
The track is very basic, some bass and a quick beat, with some droney keys. It’s in your face and fits perfectly with the fast verses from Raury. The track contrasts big time after we heard the first single from Wonder Where We Land, “NEW DORP, NEW YORK” which featured Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, which was very industrial and up-tempoed. It’s more mysterious, but equally in-your-face. It will be exciting to see what the rest of the album will hold.
Check the track out below, and be sure to pick up Wonder Where We Land on September 29.
