‘Gone Girl’ Successfully Defends Its Top Spot Against ‘Dracula Untold’

Though there is plenty of competition, Gone Girl for the second weekend in a row has come out on top in box office sales. It debuted alongside Annabelle last weekend, and managed to scrape by as the number one debut. Now that we are in the second full week of its release it has had to contend with Dracula Untold. Dracula brought in an impressive $23.5 million this weekend, but lost to Gone Girl which brought in $26.8 million. That brings Gone Girl‘s domestic total to $78.2 million so far.

Annabelle did not have nearly as strong of a second weekend. It started off in the second spot but its ticket sales plummeted this week which led it to only bring in $16.3, dropping it to the fourth spot of the week. It trails behind Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day which opened at $19.1 million, and Dracula Untold at $23.5 million.

The Equalizer is now in its third week and is still holding on to a top 10 spot, though it has gradually begun to sink down the list as the weeks pass. The Maze Runner is in its fourth week and has also slowed down a bit but overall has brought in $83.8 million domestically.
