The jury is still out on whether or not Foo Fighters have a number one hit with their latest single, but earlier today the first track from the band’s new album made headlines once again thanks to the song’s official music video.
Released to YouTube at some point on Monday, October 20, the official video for “Something From Nothing” put the focus on both Foo Fighters and the lyrics to their latest release. The clip finds the band performing in an open space, with handwritten lyrics popping up onscreen as they are recited by frontman Dave Grohl. It’s a simple approach to marketing, but it works. I still think this song sounds too much like “Holy Diver” to ever sit well with me, but it’s growing. Slowly.
Foo Fighters will premiere additional songs from their forthcoming album throughout the duration of their new reality series, Sonic Highways. Look for more information on that, as well as the Foo’s other plans, in the weeks ahead.
