Seventeen years have passed since Refused released new music. To put that into perspective, there are people in the world today who were born since the band’s last album was released who are currently able to legally operate a motor vehicle. In some parts of the world, those same people can legally consume alcohol. They’re adults, or at least as close to it as you can be while still clinging to the warm embrace of youth, and soon they will be able to experience the first new material from Refused in nearly two decades right along with the rest of us.

Today, Refused confirmed plan to release a new album titled Freedom on June 30 via Epitaph Records. The first single, which is titled “Elektra,” can be streamed below. Pre-orders, including a limited edition vinyl, are available now.

In addition to releasing new music this year, Refused will also be embarking on their biggest tour in well over a decade. Dates for that run can be found below the song stream at the end of this post.
