On Sunday at the Nokia Theater, fans of Lil Wayne will be treated to a “rock-star” like performance from the rapper. As he ran through his set the other night, Weezy delivered some surprises, including a heavy metal take on one of his songs.
Gil Smith, Wayne’s musical director, is aiming for a new-and-improved version of the MC, saying,
We’ve been brainstorming and taking from things that we put together on the road, so I think they can just expect a new-and-improved Wayne, a different Wayne. You know, he always comes different: One day he’s a rock star, one day he’s a skater; he’s singing R&B. I think we can expect a little bit of everything in this performance.
After the awards show, Lil Wayne The Carter IV will be available on iTunes, and available in stores the next day.
