Melissa Joan Hart Fails at a Kickstarter Campaign

Melissa Joan Hart set up a Kickstarter in hopes of funding a movie, and well, it looks like she’ll be stuck on the small screen forever. Her goal of $2 million fell so short that she canceled the project.

In the light of the Veronica Mars movie’s Kickstarter raising eyebrows when it went above and beyond in mere hours, other actors thought they’d give the crowd funding site a go. Zach Braff started one to get a Garden State sequel funding. He got a lot of flack for it since he still has Scrubs money, people hated on the idea that he’d ask fans for their cash. Everyone’s favorite witch of the 90s who knows it all, Melissa Joan Hart, also thought she’d be able to back a project.

All Melissa wanted to do was fund Darci, a romantic comedy starring herself. “Darci” was described as “an impulsive act has Darci face enormous hurdles to get back to her sister’s wedding and avoid her family witness her first walk of shame.”

After only a month the Kickstarter raised $51,605 from just 315 supporters. Guess those Sabrina the Teenage Witch reruns on The Hub aren’t stirring up any new fans. Maybe she should’ve said the movie would’ve had Adrian Grenier, maybe then fans would’ve looked at it as a sort of sequel to Drive Me Crazy. That would’ve been something to support.
