Less than a week away from the highly-anticipated release of Trials & Tribulations, Ace Hood has debuted a new single entitled, “Before The Rollie.”
Ace Hood has been unstoppable in 2013. Kicking off the year with the release of his massive single “Bugatti,” Hood has spent the past six months going from notable hip hop player to a contender for best in the game, and on July 16 the album release everyone has been waiting for will finally occur. “Before The Rollie” is a deep Trials & Tribulations cut featuring Meek Miller, and like the singles that came before it leaves you chomping at the bit for the full album.
Though their flows and lyrical styles are rarely that compatible, the themes found in Ace Hood and Meek Mill’s rhyme are actually quite similar. “Before The Rollie” recognizes this, and paired with a Sonny Digital beat you’ll instantly bob your head to, the two emcees make the most of their mic skills to deliver bar after bar of insight into their lives before the fame (and, you know, the rollies). The beat is clearly crafted for Hood, but Meek’s quick-tongued approach adds a nice twist halfway through, making the final results one of the best collaborations we’ve heard in awhile.
