We’ve shared many bands with you that we believe are poised to be the next big thing. However, this is the first band not from the United States to be featured as our Unsigned Spotlight band. Get Set Radio, a four piece from the UK have all the pop rock smarts to dominate any country and we’re giving you one of the first stateside reports on their new EP, The New Adventures Of… In only five tracks, Get Set Radio proves they are ready to step things up and we see no reason why they shouldn’t be signed within the year.

“Jump,” the first song on The New Adventures of…, kicks things off with guitar work that speaks like a summer breeze. You’re instantly taken to a sunny place to relax and get in sync with band as they weave a tale of love lost. It’s a tale of change and it’s pop rock perfection all the way from the sickly catchy bass lines to the soaring vocals. The guitars play off each other and the pace set on the drums is perfect for a song to just make you smile regardless of the lyrical content. This is followed by the darker toned, “Turn Up The Heat.” This is a driving rock song with the drums keeping things going with accented guitar work through the verses that builds into a wonderful chorus. There’s moments on this track when, if you don’t remember who you’re hearing, you’d swear Fall Out Boy was coming through your speakers. Not the new experiment FOB, but the older one that played more pop punk style songs. Not that this is pop punk, but the feelings are there.

Taking a step back, “This Kind of Destruction,” starts off simply with some light dueling vocals and intricate guitar work. The chorus here is huge and perfect for the track. On the the 2nd verse the band really hones their sound quite well and the bass line keeps your feet moving along the whole time. After a thunderous bridge, the track eventually fades out and we’re greeted by the near Panic At The Disco like beat of, “Falling By The Dozen.” However, that sugar pop feel is quickly tossed aside for accented guitars and a harder sound. This is probably the most well written song the band has. The timing for each change [whether to bridge or chorus] is perfect and all the instruments and vocals are on the right levels throughout. Even the harmonies are great. If you’re only going to give this band one chance, this is the track to do it with. However, there is one more song. That is the angst based, “Sacrifice,” which starts out with simple guitar and vocal work before building into some gang vocal sections. The song itself isn’t bad, but it doesn’t work as well with the other tracks on the record. Though I will say it’s a great song by itself. It just doesn’t sync up as well. IT does keep things upbeat and end things on a great note though and that’s what really matters because as soon as it finished I knew I had heard something special.

Get Set Radio are a young band, but like in the case of The Maine, time together means nothing. These boys are on to something huge. Through solid song writing, soaring choruses, and tight musicianship, Get Set Radio seem poised to take on the world. The New Adventures Of… is not out just yet, but will be in almost not time at all. Follow the link from the picture on the side of the site and support this band right now. Those of you who claim to always be on to of the next big band: you are nothing unless you’re tuned into this band.
