While the nominated or performing artists are expressing their excitement to be part of the VMAs, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine has a very different opinion and he was not afraid to vocalize it.

Levine took to his Twitter to speak of the long-running ceremony:

the VMA’s. one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I’m drawing a line in the sand. fuck you VMA’s.

Levine’s strong opinion seems to relate to a part of Justin Timberlake’s speech at the 2007 VMAs. “Play more damn videos. We don’t want to see the Simpsons on reality television. Play more videos!”

Whether you’re for the VMAs or against them, they will air tonight, August 28.
