MOVIE TRAILER: Dark Shadows

The trailer for Tim Burton and Johnny Depp’s latest foray into the bizarre and bewildering has arrived online. Dark Shadows, which is based on a Gothic sitcom that ran from 1966-1971, also stars Burton regular Helena Bonham Carter alongside Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green, Chloë Moretz, Jonny Lee Miller, and Jackie Earle Haley.Depp headlines as Barnabas Collins, an 18th century vampire cursed by Green’s scheming witch Angelique Bouchard. He is buried alive in the 18th century, only to awaken in 1972 and find that his family has become a squabbling mass of dysfunction – not to mention that Angelique is still hovering about and with even more nefarious plans.

The trailer certainly looks impressive, with the stunning visual detail and ghostly atmospherics that so define Burton’s work. He’s assembled a fine cast and Depp seems to be reviving the impeccable comic timing that made Captain Jack so memorable.
