UTG PREMIERE: Late In The Playoffs – “Force Of Nature”

Last year, we caught a whiff of a new band out of Chicago, Illinois called Late In the Playoffs. Upon first listen, this blogger was immediately reminded of early 00s emo-pop groups like Third Eye Blind, The Starting Line, and Motion City Soundtrack. That said, I was impressed with the freshness the band brought to tracks such as “Blue Eyes” and “New Directions.” I was so impressed, in fact, that I made “Blue Eyes” my single of 2011 and ranked their EP Everything I Know as my top pick in my ‘extended play’ category.

After some short tours in support of that EP, LITPO set off on one last stretch that ended up in Boston, Massachusetts where producer Gary Cioffi of Maximum Sound Studios resides. Gary is the man behind the boards of some recent classics such as Transit’s Listen & Forgive and Promise Nothing. With a few days set aside, Late in the Playoffs went to work recording two brand new songs. The first being “The Wayside” which features vocals from Tim Landers of Misser. You can stream that song at absolutepunk.net.

The second song is the one we have the pleasure of premiering to you today. “Force of Nature” is leans more on the poppy side of the two recordings. We’ve got the song streaming right here as well as a short video clip with some footage from the studio, the road, and some shows. Enjoy!
