SINGLE REVIEW: Motionless In White – “Devil’s Night”

Artist: Motionless In White
Song: “Devil’s Night”
Album: Infamous
Label: Fearless

When I first came into contact with Motionless In White while covering a Blessed By A Broken Heart show roughly three years back, I knew I was witnessing something special in the making. Even at an early stage in their evolution to become the group thousands have learned to adore, it was clear by their stage presence and overall professionalism that big things were on the horizon. Fast forward to the present day and the praise of Motionless In White’s work is almost deafening. The group just wrapped their most successful run on Warped Tour to date, and are currently gearing up to release their Sophomore album, Infamous, through Fearless Records on November 13. The album’s lead single, “Devil’s Night,” hit iTunes today and it’s clear the future still holds a lot for Motionless In White.

Creatures was, without a doubt, a strong release to please longtime followers and introduce new listeners to the world of Motionless In White. It was high-gloss scenecore focusing on a variety of topics ranging from outrage at close minded people, to Edward Scissorhands, and all the way back again by way of Sleepy Hollow and other legendary tales. Now that fans have embraced their universe, it’s time for Motionless to take listeners deeper into their creative minds and that is exactly what “Devil’s Night” intends to do. The song is more technical and heavy than nearly anything on Creature, and introduces new elements to the band’s sound without cutting anything from the mix. Chris Cerulli takes the spotlight with ferocious lyrics about haters, fakers, and everyone that stands against you, but it’s his delivery and the way it syncs with the music that will have people talking. Motionless have stepped up their game all-round with this one, and part of that may have to do with the fact this song sounds remarkably close to something Slipknot would write, but regardless – it’s badass and chock full of chugs that are sure to incite more than a few hundred mosh pits around the globe.

“Devil’s Night” is a must-own for any fan of Motionless In White and those needing more proof need simply click below to hear the heavy goodness for themselves. Once you’re sold, click here and purchase the single on iTunes.
