Outside of touring and the information that trickles out of various social media outlets, fans can only speculate on what the artists and bands they love are doing between albums. That said, I’m betting Anamanaguchi have probably spent their downtime following the release of 2010’s Dawn Metropolis shotgunning Four Lokos while trawling Tumblr, watching anime, playing their gameboys, or some combination therein. Oh, I guess they soundtracked the video game adaptation of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The Universe at some point too.

It’s the only way these manic pixie dream boys could come up with a song (and corresponding music video) so neon-bright and estatic as “MEOW”, the first single from their upcoming sophomore release Endless Fantasy. A fun game to play while watching the clip is to count all of the pop-culture and meme references. Be sure to stick around for the surprise cameo at the end.
