Hostage Calm Fan Assaulted For Wearing Their “I Support Same-Sex Marriage” Shirt

As a lot of you probably know, Hostage Calm have a t-shirt they sell that says “I Support Same-Sex Marriage.” They’ve experienced their share of hate because of it, and because of their stance on the issue. Well today we’ve received word that a fan of theirs named Alex was wearing that shirt and was assaulted because of it in North Carolina. You can read the statement from the man who was assaulted by taking a look below the jump. You can also find the original statement on Absolutepunk.

Let’s hope that the man who assaulted this guy gets caught and arrested. No matter what your views are of same sex marriage there is absolutely no reason to bring violence into it. Violent acts like this are for those who aren’t smart enough to use their words.

I had a sub at a local place, went next door to a place called Izzy’s Sports Bar for a beer. Got my beer, went to smoke a cigarette, and that’s when everyone saw the back of the shirt. When I came back inside to the bar, the bartender (the only nice person in the whole establishment) let me know that people were upset about my shirt. I guess she thought she was warning me. I still wanted to drink my beer, and I was not going to leave over the T-shirt I was wearing.

The guy sitting behind me at the bar with the owner of the place mentioned the shirt to me. I turned around and asked him if he had a problem with it, all the while people are talking shit in the background about how you don’t bring religion and politics into a bar. I spoke up, because who you love has nothing to do with your religion or your political views. The guy was not happy. I went to smoke another cigarette and told the guy to leave me alone. I came back in after the cigarette and he kept talking shit to me, when I told him to stop being an asshole and stop talking, he choked me out of my chair to the ground.

I got kicked out. The guy who choked me did not.

I called the cops on him, and the owner let him flee out the back door.

Well that’s a whole load of shit. It sucks nobody helped you nor did the law.
Wear what you want and be who you are.
People suck and are ignorant regardless.

True that! I’m definitely sad to see someone get assaulted just for what they are wearing. Isn’t it 2013??

  3. Jasmine says:

Exactly! People can wear some really offensive clothing in general and get away with it: why bother someone in a t-shirt? It wasn’t a shirt attacking someone’s views at all; it was just one that was promoting changes and diversity.

Maybe I should assault every person I see wearing YOLO shirts because I’m not accepting of it.

    You and me both!

Shit like this makes me sick! I am disgusted by the situation, and given that my clean vocalist, Shannah is pansexual, and that I have friends that are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered I don’t feel welcome wearing shirts that I want to wear. I’m straight, but I’m not ashamed of being friends with people that are LGBT.
