It looks like a new M.I.A. song aired a few days ago on the London-based internet radio station NTS. After playing the song on-air, the station uploaded the song in full to their SoundCloud. It’s declarative and loud, with M.I.A.’s vocal part sounding quite good.
The song is called “Only 1 U” as Pitchfork reports. It’s unsaid whether or not it will appear on her upcoming album, Matangi, but it does sound vaguely similar to the Matangi mix she did for Paris Fashion Week this year (check that out here).”Only 1 U” seems to start around the two minute mark. Just last week, M.I.A. released a music video for “Bring the Noise”, the first single off Matangi. The album isn’t available yet for pre-order, but you can buy “Bring the Noise” from iTunes now until the full album hits shelves this fall through N.E.E.T./Interscope Records. We’ll have to wait and see if “Only 1 U” will be a part of it, too.
