UTG PHOTOS: MAC MILLER (7/24/13)

Under The Gun sent Head of Photography, Kellie Gannon, to House of Blues Cleveland for Mac Miller on July 24, 2013.

Mac Miller descended upon Cleveland this week, bringing his version of crazy to a sold out House of Blues on Wednesday, July 24 for his Space Migration Tour. Along with Mac, Chance The Rapper and Earl Sweatshirt graced the stage and got the crowd in full blown hip hop show mode.  What’s the difference between a rock show and a hip hop show at House of Blues? Like night and day on different planets in two different universes.

The lineup for this show was mind blowing, and every talented artist that took the stage got the crowd even more amped up than the last. Chance The Rapper, while more subdued during a few songs, busted out some killer dance moves during his last few beats, echoed by equally enthusiastic twerking and dancing within the young crowd surrounding the stage.

Earl Sweatshirt, of the famed LA rap collective Odd Future, elicited unmatched reactions during his set. The crowd of underagers in the pit seemed to be a little too comfortable at times, lighting blunts in the first row and getting tossed out of the venue by the handful. Earl, unfazed, kept the show going playing hit after hit. His set ended after bringing a bouncing Mac Miller out during a remix of Kelis’ “Milkshake” during which Mac went H.A.M. (there really is no other way to describe this) against spastic strobe lights and fog.

Mac Miller took the stage after an extended intro of bright lights, fog, and a killer ambient track. Showing he wasn’t messing around, he opened his set with “Loud” from his 2012 mixtape Macadelic, capturing the crowd and transforming the venue into a gigantic pseudo bounce house for hopped up teens. Mac focused on crowd interaction during his set, pumping out song after song and playing tunes spanning his entire discography, including 2010 mixtape K.I.D.S., 2011 album Blue Slide Park, and his most recent highly acclaimed album, Watching Movies With The Sound Off. All in all, this was a wild evening for anyone in attendance and Mac put on an incredible show for those who didn’t meet the unfortunate fate of getting kicked out early.
