Periphery Announce Experimental New Project, ‘Clear’

I’m a sucker for concept albums and bands challenging themselves to write and record in interesting ways, and I’m also a big fan of jaw-dropping guitar work and time signature changes. All of those elements will come together on Periphery‘s new project, Clear. Each member of the band was given primary creative control on one song, all the way through the actual recording process, but all of the songs are connected through melodic callbacks to an overture track.

The band is hesitant to call Clear, out January 28, an album or an EP, instead stating that it sits somewhere in between and that they are still hard at work on their third full-length. However you want to classify it, Clear should be a treat for progressive metal fans.

Check out a trailer featuring clips from each song on the release after the break, and preorder Clear right here.
