First ‘Blended’ Trailer Finds Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore Falling In Love (Again)

First came The Wedding Singer, and several years later lightning struck once more with 50 First Dates, but in 2014 Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are testing the admiration people have for their cinematic chemistry with Warner Bros’ upcoming rom-com, Blended.

Starring Adam Sandler as ‘bathroom humor loving single dad’ and Drew Barrymore as ‘quirky single mom,’ Blended is the latest in Adam Sandler’s slow underhand comedic pitches to moviegoers in recent years. His character and Barrymore’s character try to date, but things just don’t work out. Fortunately for Sandler, a chance for the two families to travel together to Africa presents itself, and before anyone can say ‘stereotyping an entire continent’ the two find themselves together once more. Will love find a way to thrive even when all the signs point to no? I’m willing to bet the answer is yes. You can view the film’s first trailer at the end of this post.

I remember a time when new Adam Sandler trailers demanded the attention of the nation, but something about this film just feels tired. Scratch that – everything about this film feels tired. Aside from the idea to set the film in Africa, there is almost nothing here we haven’t seen before in some form. I’d like to think Sandler and Barrymore can pull off another miracle, but I just don’t know how strong my faith is anymore.

Blended opens nationwide May 24, 2014.
