REST IN PEACE: Bingo Players’ Paul Bäumer

Dutch production duo Bingo Players are best known for creating euphoric electronic music that functions as the soundtrack to the most memorable nights in the lives of ravers and fans across the world, but today’s news is the furthest thing from a cause for celebration. Months after Paul Bäumer took a step back from live performances due to being diagnosed with cancer, the project’s other member, Maarten Hoogstraten, announced earlier today Bäumer has lost his battle with the disease and passed away.

This is undoubtedly a massive blow to the electronic music scene as Bäumer was not only a phenomenal musician, but a genuine individual as well. Our thoughts are with Bingo Players’ remaining half along with the family and friends of Bäumer.

For those who would like to read Hoogstraten’s full statement on Bäumer’s passing, it can be found after the jump along with a stream of the duo’s hit single, “Cry (Just a Little).”

Dear All,
I’m deeply saddened to tell you that Paul passed away last night after his battle with cancer. He fought strongly until the end.

We want to thank you all for your support over the past few months.

Needless to say, all upcoming shows for the rest of this year have been cancelled as we’re going through this loss with family and friends. We’ll post a longer update shortly with more information as well.

Paul, we will miss you.
– Maarten
