‘Glee’ Star Lea Michele Goes Top 40 With New Song

After years on the hit FOX series Glee, Lea Michele is finally stepping out on her own with the release of her debut album and earlier today a new song premiered on Billboard.

Titled “Louder,” the first non-single track off Lea Michele’s first solo album is a fun, energetic ode to taking one’s life into their own hands. It’s a fitting release for the twenty-something star, who has spent the majority of her career sharing the spotlight with a dozen or so equally musically-inclined young people, but I am not sure it’s good enough to set her apart from the rampant competition amongst female top 40 vocalists. You want to dance and sing along, yes, but is that enough? Listen below and decide for yourself:

Michele is undoubtedly one of the show’s most recognizable faces, but it will be interesting to see if the public can see past their pre-conceived notion of who she is based on their memories of her character on the show. Comment below and let us know your thoughts.

Louder, the debut album from Lea Michele, is scheduled to be released March 4. Here is a look at the cover art:

I can see you cant get passed Lea’s character on glee. She sounds freaking awesome. Her voice is better than Britney, Selena and Demi live. Lea is such a great actress, people believe she’ s her character. Ryan Murphy said she is a total sweetheart.
