The 2014 Oscar nominations were revealed this morning in Los Angeles, and in the hours since the internet has been a hotbed for discussion and rage. This is nothing new, of course. It seems there is no way for the Academy to please everyone, and this year like all the ones that came before is littered with bad picks and ridiculous snubs (depending on who you ask). We will probably do our fair share of complaining as the ceremony approaches, but for now we want to celebrate those who were selected as today is still a special one for each of them.
Five songs made the final cut for the 2014 ‘Best Original Song’ category, and as far as we can tell only one has been featured on UTG before now. Some titles come from animated features, while others help enforce the powerful messages of some of the year’s best dramas. You can stream all five nominees below.
The ceremony takes place March 2 at 7pm EST.
“Alone Yet Not Alone” from Alone Yet Not Alone
“Happy” from Despicable Me 2
”Let It Go” from Frozen
“The Moon Song” from Her
“Ordinary Love” from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom
