According to a report by Michael Goldberg, rock and roll fans can expect quite a treat in 2014 in the form of a covers album by Neil Young and Jack White. The collaboration between one of the genre’s living legends and possibly its most prominent contemporary torchbearer is expected to include covers of Bert Jansch’s “Needle of Death,” which Young recorded as part of a Record Store Day promotion at White’s Third Man Records, along with Bob Dylan’s “Blowin’ In the Wind,” Tim Hardin’s “Reason To Believe,” and others that Young has recently performed live.
While there are no other confirmed details on the covers album, we do know it’s not the only new release White has in the pipeline. Earlier this month, the singer, guitarist, and label owner revealed that was close to finishing up two new albums. Presumably, he was referring to collaboration with Young and a new solo record, but as official announcements are still forthcoming, we’ll just have to wait and see.
