While he may not have the name recognition of Into It. Over It.’s Evan Weiss, Warren Franklin is as deeply ingrained in midwest emo as anyone you’re likely to meet. Hailing from Rockford, Illinois, the singer-songwriter has released two excellent LPs of acoustic guitar-driven emo-folk, along with playing in Joie de Vivre, Parker, and (on the occasional tour) Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate). His latest EP, Now That I’m Here, I Can’t Imagine Being Anywhere Else, is available now for pay-what-you-want download courtesy of Count Your Lucky Stars Records.
Now That I’m Here is Franklin’s second release with his backing band, known as The Founding Fathers. While their previous EP, Every Letter and Souvenir, focused primarily on full-band renditions of Franklin’s solo songs, this one is all new. Give it a listen, and pick up physical copies of Franklin’s back catalog right here.
