Kingmaker Debut First Track Off ‘The Cradle’ EP

Blooming hardcore act Kingmaker, who have refused to slow their roll since 2012’s Stay Asleep, have debuted the first new song off their upcoming EP, The Cradle. Titled “Sick Fuck,” you can check out track’s official music video after the break.

The song finds the Illinois natives treading unfamiliar waters with impressive dexterity, having expertly combined the technicality of their more recent releases with the pulse-pounding aggression familiar to fan’s of Stay Pissed and Catacomb. “Sick Fuck” also showcases the group’s new vocalist, Riggs Repking, who aside from now fronting the five-piece, also splits his time between a number of other local side-projects. Admittedly, I was slightly nervous to see how this lineup change would affect the band, but after several listens through this latest effort, I can say with certainty that Repking adds a new poise to the outfit not present in their past releases. Kingmaker has been tearing holes through the Midwest since their formation in 2009, and if “Sick Fuck” is any indication, they have no intention of stopping anytime soon.
