The first new music to surface from Curren$y since the release of New Jet City, which in Spitta terms might as well have been a century ago, The Drive In Theater offers listeners a chill fourteen-track collection that pairs with every occasion. There was a time when Curren$y pounced on every beat with a feverish intensity, but these days he’s more inclined to find a smoother flow that makes listeners want to revisit his material again and again. He knows he no longer has anything to prove, and as a result is able to better explore the lyrical possibilities of any given beat. He’s on his grown man game, and it makes for a deeply satisfying listening experience.
