Mixtape: Papoose – ‘Cigar Society’

Brooklyn spitta Papoose kicked off 2014 with the promise that he would release a new mixtape every single month. Keeping true to his word, his third release found its way online this morning.

Hitting the net originally via DatPiff, Cigar Society is a nine-track collection that plays more like an album than a mixtape. This is real hip-hop, and as such there are no anthems for the club or trap-inspired trendy numbers to be found anywhere in the mix. Click below to stream and download the album, in full, for free.

There will probably be a handful of tracks of Cigar Society that get promotional attention in the weeks ahead, but I’m not sure any is better than the Cassidy-assisted “John F Kennedy.” It’s the kind of hard-hitting track that helped Papoose build his brand, with a hook that is as tough as it is infectious. I hope a video surfaces soon.

Will Papoose make it to the end of December with twelve new releases under his belt? Only time will tell. Follow UTG on Twitter and we’ll make sure you never miss another urban music headline.
