‘Ride Along 2’ Has A Release Date

The reign of Kevin Hart at the box office is only just beginning.

Universal has announced that Ride Along 2 will swerve into theaters on January 15, 2016. Kevin Hart and Ice Cube will return to star, but other cast members have yet to be revealed.

Critics were not thrilled with Ride Along when it debuted in January, but film goers flocked to cinemas in droves to take a comedic break from the winter onslaught of emotionally heavy Oscar contenders. The buddy comedy raked in $48 million on its opening weekend, breaking the previous January record set by Cloverfield, and then proceeded to spend three weeks atop the box office chart before being dethroned in early February by The Lego Movie.

To date, Ride Along has grossed $130.8 million from the United States alone. Global figures were not available at the time of this post.

Ride Along 2 is only one of two films currently scheduled for that date in 2016. The other is also a sequel to a film from this year: The Nut Job 2.
