‘Nashville’ Actress Set To Star In ‘Jem And The Holograms’, Production Already Underway

The eighties will never day. At least, not if Jem and The Holograms have anything to say about it.

Just a few weeks after news of a Jem And The Holograms adaptation went viral The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the upcoming reboot has found its stars. According tot he publication, Nashville star Aubrey Peeples will play the lead, and the Holograms will be played by Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau and Hayley Kiyoko.

Jem And The Holograms will be based on the same bestselling Hasbro toy from 1980 that launched the similarly titled animated series most now think of when the name Jem is mentioned. The film will be produced by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions, Scooter Braun Productions and Chu. The film has been moving along quite quickly, and is already shooting.

There is no plot description for the new film, but a synopsis from the production company claims the universe is being reimagined “for a whole new generation with themes of being true to who you are in a multitasking, hyperlinked social media age.”

No release date has been set for Jem And The Holograms, but if production is already underway I am going to bet we will see a teaser trailer before the end of the year. You can view a clip from the classic show below.
