We’re constantly looking out for a new artist to fall in love with, so imagine our happiness when Cold Beat happened to fall into our virtual lap. With fun, lo-fi, girl-fronted surf rock and tight drumming, the San Franscisco-based band are ready to make themselves your go-to album for the summer with their new single, “Mirror.”
“Mirror” shows bandleader Hannah Lew (Grass Widow) sweetly cooing over the rapid, lo-fi echoing of her band with sun-soaked chords that are very much in line with the likes of La Luz instead of their Thee Oh Sees-sounding Worms/Year 5772 EP from last year. Clocking in just over two minutes, the song is quick and playful; so if images of the group twirling their hair and popping bubblegum come to mind, know you’re not alone. Give it a listen after the jump.
Cold Beat’s debut album, Over Me, will be out July 8 via Lew’s Crime on the Moon label. You can pre-order it here.
