Jack White’s ‘Lazaretto’ Breaks Vinyl Sales Record

Earlier today, Third Man Records announced on Facebook that Jack White’s new solo album, Lazaretto, saw over 40,000 vinyl records purchased in the single week that passed since it came out June 10. That’s in the US alone, too. This means White broke the 1-week Soundscan record of most vinyl sales in a week.

To gauge how huge this is, take a look at Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories. As the top selling record for the first half of 2013, RAM was played nonstop and dominated the Grammys. How many vinyl copies of it were purchased in a single week, though? Only 32,000.
