Foxygen Announce New Album, Tour, Share “How Can You Really” Music Video

Last year saw constant back-and-forth press releases about LA retro pop duo Foxygen supposedly breaking up. Here we are in 2014, and not only are the band back together, but they’ve announced a new full-length, …And Star Power, out October 14 via Jagjaguwar. The album has a whopping 24 tracks and sees contributions from “a gaggle of guest stars.” According to the press release, it was recorded on a tape machine at the infamous Chateau Marmont and is filled with “psych-ward folk, cartoon fantasia, soft-rock indulgences, D&D doom rock, and paranoid bathroom rompers.” Take that as you will.

In lead single “How Can You Really,” we get a number of those frilly descriptors right off the bat. There’s the comforting similarities between The Kinks and The Rolling Stones, the questioning lyrics, and Sam France’s cartoon-y vocals. The song’s music video gets a flutter of fancy shots, too. Directed by Grant Singer, the video captures Foxygen parading around an office, singing in a garage, and flaunting ’60s clothing they wish they were alive to have purchased firsthand.
