Damien Rice Returns, Announces Plans To Release ‘My Favourite Faded Fantasy’ In November

Damien Rice has revealed plans to release his first studio album in eight years, My Favourite Faded Fantasy, this November.

It’s hard to believe that almost a decade has passed since Damien Rice won over ears and hearts worldwide with his hushed take on contemporary folk music. For a while it seemed like he would be the biggest artist in the world if album three turned out great, but almost as soon as that thought reached the masses Rice decided to step away from music altogether. He’s back now, however, and with a new album produced by Rick Rubin it seems Rice is ready once again to take the music industry by storm.

“Sometimes you have to step away from what you love in order to learn how to love it again,” says Rice in response to questions regarding his absence. “I came to Rick mostly based on what I didn’t know about him, rather than what I did. For some reason I just had a feeling that I would feel comfortable being open and being me and being vulnerable with Rick.”

My Favourite Faded Fantasy will be released November 3 in Europe and November 4 in North America. The first single will be titled “I Don’t Want To Change You,” but the song will not be available online until later this week. For now, you can view a teaser for the album, which just so happens to feature new music, below:
