Weezer have shared a stream of a new track titled “Cleopatra.”

I know that there are those who believe Weezer have started to slip in recent years, but every time the band announces a new record the initial singles make me fall in love with their simplistic sound all over again. “Cleopatra” feels like a lo-fi rock record at first, with production that sounds very reminiscent of the work done on the group’s Blue Album. I think you could classify the song as a hard rock ballad, which I know is a strange thing to say, but you will better understand what I mean when you hear the track for yourself. When asked to describe Weezer’s upcoming album, frontman Rivers Cuomo told members of the press that Everything Will Be Alright In The End would combine “the tight structure of The Blue Album with a little bit more abandon like Pinkerton.” The songs we’ve heard so far sound a lot like the former, so I am curious about the material that will resemble the latter. We’ll post every track as they begin to surface right here on UTG.
