Earlier this fall, Ryan Adams raised more than a few eyebrows when he announced that he would be covering Taylor Swift‘s latest album, 1989, in full. Since then, there’s been a lot of speculation as to how the brooding singer-songwriter would tackle the pop princess’ sugary radio anthems, and as of yesterday, all of our questions have been answered in the best way possible.
With the help of Zane Lowe, Adams has unveiled the record’s glowing lead single, “Bad Blood,” and frankly, we can’t get enough of it. The Jacksonville rocker has completely transformed Swift’s buoyant, tongue-in-cheek tirade into a cutting, guitar-driven ballad, and the end product is nothing short of undeniable. Listen in after the break, and if you’re a fan, sound off in the comments section.
Adams’ latest undertaking will arrive digitally this coming Monday, September 21, with a CD and vinyl release to follow. Pre-order 1989 on iTunes and receive an instant download of “Bad Blood.”
