Beck and Devendra Banhart Compilation

As posted by Pitchfork Media

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen anything new from Todd Solondz, the man behind unbelievably bleak comedies like Welcome to the Dollhouse and Happiness. But Solondz has a new one called Life During Wartime currently making the festival rounds, and the movie’s soundtrack features a collaboration between Beck and Devendra Banhart.

As the Playlist reports and Banhart’s publicist confirms, Solondz wrote a song for the movie called “Life During Wartime”. According to the Playlist, actress Shirley Anderson performs the song during the movie, and a different version of the song plays over the end credits. According to Devendra’s press rep, Banhart and Beck produced this version together. Devendra sings it, and Beck’s vocals also appear.

Another Devendra song, “Heard Somebody Say”, also appears in the movie. Right now, there are no plans for a soundtrack album. Beck and Banhart also recently collaborated on Beck’s Record Club version of Leonard Cohen’s Songs of Leonard Cohen, which Beck is currently posting at his website, one song at a time.
