Los Angeles metal label Prosthetic Records has filed a lawsuit against New York-based label/distributor Razor & Tie in the U.S. District Court in the Southern District of New York. Prosthetic claims that Razor & Tie breached its distribution agreement and there is a disagreement about the expiration date of the contract.

Prosthetic says that the distribution deal ended on Jan. 1 but that Razor & Tie claims the contract has not yet expired. Prosthetic also alleges that Razor & Tie didn’t deliver 10 out of 12 releases to digital outlets in a timely fashion, and didn’t release an album by Skeletonwitch to Canadian retailers or iTunes Canada. Prosthetic also claims that Razor & Tie didn’t properly account for bulk CDs, digital revenue and reserves and distributed digital copies to foreign territories.

Prosthetic is asking to be released from the contract and is also asking for damanges of no less than $100,000 plus interest.
