Here it is! Finally, after months of set pictures and waiting, an official trailer for the first part of the Hobbit film pair has made it’s way onto the tubes.

For those who are familiar with The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, you will be happy to know that the film is not only directed by Peter Jackson, but has a returning cast as well. Like previously stated, the story will be split into two parts. First is An Unexpected Journey, followed by There and Back Again. While it is untold how the two will be split, there is speculation to suggest the defeat of Smaug is an option. Jackson has reportedly decided on his plans to bridge the two, but has not confirmed or denied any rumor.

An Unexpected Journey is due for a December 2012 release, followed by There and Back Again a year after. Introduce yourself to the cast and magic of The Hobbit in the trailer which can be watched after the jump.
