DAMMIT: Even Though Liam Says No, It Looks Like “Taken 3” May Be On The Way

This is bullshit. I understand how business works enough to know that studios are going to cash in on any/everything they think will turn a profit, but does no one have the heart (or soul) to admit when they’re doing the audience wrong?

After an insanely successful opening weekend, talk began to swirl early Sunday that Taken 3 may soon be on the way. Star Liam Neeson quickly squashed these ideas when he was quoted by Empire as saying:

“I don’t see it. I don’t think it’s going to happen. I really don’t. I can’t see a possible scenario where audiences wouldn’t go, ‘Oh, come on…! She’s taken again?”

That should have been where the story ended, but numbers apparently speak much louder than the desires of the film’s lead (who already took a credibility hit by appearing in the sloppy sequel) because Taken 2 screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen says plans for a third are definitely in the works. Speaking with Hollywood.com, Kamen stated:

We didn’t start talking about [Taken 3] until we saw the numbers. But then we said, ‘Oh, okay. I think we should do a third one.’ And Fox wants us to do a third one.

As far as what fans could expect plotwise, Kamen added:

“We’ve taken everyone we can take — it’s going to go in another direction. Should be interesting.

I disagree. It should be awful. Just like the sequel.
