The twitter feeds giving some conflicting accounts on this one. But what else is new?
It looks like Hudson Mohawke, Brit electronic production wunderkind, is the newest addition to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music family. Oh, and that’s information that we, the listening public, probably weren’t supposed to be privy to yet.
THE FACTS:
- HudMo’s management tweeted that the trill beatmaker was signed as a producer to Very Good Beats, the production arm of West’s G.O.O.D. Music and that Mohawke’s solo releases would continue to be put out by Warp Records, as they had been in the past. Well, something along those lines according to Hypetrak. It’s hard to verify since said tweets have been deleted.
- Mohawke reacts, tweeting “No comment”, shortly after the news broke and stating that, “Spose I should address all this since my twitter is exploding right now, will do a little announcement later” earlier today.
- Mohawke also tweeted on January 17, “contractual shit takes foreeeeeever”. What contracts, Mohawke? Context!
Let’s take a deeper dive into this URL mystery after the jump.
CIRCUMSTANTIAL EVIDENCE:
- West made a surprise appearance on stage during a TNGHT show – a duo comprised of Mohawke and Lunice – in Brooklyn back in November.
- Mohawke has production credits on Cruel Summer.
- Mohawke also tweeted about having an unreleased Ma$e verse on his hard drive.
We’ll continue to follow this story as it develops. But it looks like congratulations are in order for Mr. Mohawke. If you’re unfamiliar with the about to be more famous producers’ work, acquaint yourself by streaming “Cbat” below.
