Yuck’s Lead Singer And Guitarist Leaves Band

News surfaced on the band’s official Facebook page that lead singer and guitarist, Daniel Blumberg, is no longer associated with Yuck. The band had this to say,

“What’s up! Lots of new things have been happening in Yuck world. We’re getting ready to go to New York this week to record our 2nd album! Unfortunately, Daniel won’t be joining us as he’s decided to focus on other things. However, new music, new tour dates, and bigger afros will be coming very soon. So get ready. GET. READY.”

After releasing probably the most vague statement on the departure of a band’s frontman that I can ever remember, I guess the good news is we’ll be hearing new music from Yuck in the future. The bad news, they’re continuing on without their lead singer. When a band attempts to swap lead singers, it has the ability to change the whole dynamic and feel of what listeners fell in love with in the first place.

In rare circumstances are bands able to replicate replacing their main vocalist with an identical singer and not lose a step. The only example which comes to mind is when Anthony Green parted ways with Saosin, and the band stumbled upon Cove Reber. Saosin’s self-titled album was well received by critics, but the original band’s relationship with their new singer was short-lived.

If you’re a fan of Daniel Blumberg, you’ll be happy to know that he isn’t quitting music. Instead, he will be focusing on his side project entitled, Oupa. Some of his new project can be heard via the band’s Soundcloud page here.
