A$AP Ferg Debuts “Hood Pope”

Harlem’s new savior has returned with another single from his forthcoming debut album.

Hitting the net shortly after midnight this morning, “Hood Pope” is the third track to surface off A$AP Ferg‘s Trap Lord. Following in the footsteps of “Shabba,” the track brings to mind an era in hip hop when Bones Thugs N Harmony sat atop the charts and Ol’ Dirty Bastard made moves in the streets. It’s fresh as can be, but built on structure that is sure to deliver a heavy dose of nostalgia to our readers who remember the heyday of the 90s rap scene.

When comparing the sound of the “Work” remix, “Shabba,” and “Hood Pope,” it becomes clears Trap Lord will be a diverse offering inspired by the artists who have served as the soundtrack to Ferg’s life. Whether or not the mainstream will embrace this sound (again) remains to be seen, but I personally cannot wait for more. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on “Hood Pope.”
