Jack White, Conor Oberst, Patti Smith to Play Coen Brothers’ Concert

Who would curate a concert that includes The Avett Brothers, Conor Oberst, Marcus Mumford, Patti Smith, The Decemberists‘ Colin Meloy, and Jack White‘s first live performance of 2013? Obviously the… Coen Brothers?

In preparation for their upcoming film, Inside Llewyn Davis, the Coen Brothers and T-Bone Burnett (the film’s soundtrack producer) are bringing the big hitters to New York City’s Town Hall. The film is inspired by Greenwich Village folk icon Dave Van Ronk and will come out December 6.

The previously mentioned artists will be joined by Joan Baez, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Punch Brothers, and Secret Sisters, as well as members of the film’s cast like Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan. Songs from the 1960s will be played as well as live versions of tracks from the soundtrack.

Tickets for the concert go on sale Tuesday, August 20th, with a portion of the proceeds going to the National Recording Preservation Foundation.
