MOSH BREAK: Fathoms Release “XIV” Video

Everyone complains about Wednesday being the toughest day of the week, but I argue Thursday sucks far more. Today is the day that is just close enough to the weekend to give you hope, yet far enough away to be weighed down under the stress of deadlines and the numerous to-dos you know you’ll likely not accomplish this week. Luckily, this Thursday happened to arrive with a new video from rising hardcore group Fathoms, and after a few minutes of cubicle moshing we feel much better about everything (and soon you will too).

Fathoms have been on our radar for awhile now, but for one reason or another they rarely find their way into our news feed. We had been planning a writeup on their upcoming album, and this morning one of the record’s first singles was released in the form of a new music video.

Stemming from the heart of all things heavy, “XIV” opens like a gut punch from the world’s strongest man and never lets up throughout its three-and-a-half minute duration. It’s angst, chug-laden hardcore with vocals that sound as menacing as one could possibly imagine (thanks to wonderful use of vocal layers), and we guarantee if you love hardcore this track will make your day just a bit more manageable. Clear some space, crank up the music, and let loose while this video plays in the background. You can thank us later.

Cold Youth, the new EP from Fathoms, arrives in stores September 30.
