The first trailer for the second installment in Lars Von Trier’s upcoming Nymphomaniac saga has been released.

The hype and controversy surrounding Nymphomaniac has been bubbling since before the film was cut into two separate parts. The story traces the sexual progress of a woman, played by Charlotte Gainsbourg, from her youth to the age of 50. Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Uma Thurman, Stellan Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe and Connie Nielsen also star. You can view the trailer for Volume II below.

It’s hard to put together exactly what chapters of the central character’s life will be told in Volume II, but it’s pretty clear from the trailer that the sexual encounters she finds herself in will vary greatly based on her partner. The trailer alone includes hints at group sex, bondage, masturbation, and possibly even pedophilia.

What Nymphomaniac actually holds in store is as much a guess for you as it is us, but early word from the festival circuit leads us to believe it may be Von Trier’s most accomplished work to date. Nymphomaniac: Volume I hits US theaters on March 6. Volume II will follow a few weeks later on April 3.
