Required Listening: NEEDTOBREATHE – “State I’m In”

NEEDTOBREATHE have continually surprised us thus far in 2014. Their last several albums have been laced with tales of sadness, but everything released in promotion for the forthcoming album Rivers In The Wasteland has been decidedly more light-hearted. Call it a new outlook, or maybe just a desire to try something different, but either way it’s working for us, and their latest promotional single may be the best yet.

Opening in a way that The Beach Boys would likely appreciate, “State I’m In” further cements NEEDTOBREATHE’s desire to have a little more fun with their new album. The music brings to mind the scenes of summer, with thumping drums and hook-laden melody that keeps you wanting more. It’s not exactly a departure from the band’s usual sound, but it’s just different enough to feel new all over again. You can stream “State I’m In” below.

Rivers In The Wasteland is still two months from release, but pre-orders are available now. Anyone who buys the album automatically received three free downloads, including “State I’m In” and “The Heart.”

NEEDTOBREATHE recently announced plans to embark on an album release tour in May 2014. Click here for dates.
